About Me

Bonjour!

Welcome to my online portfolio!
I am a graduating senior at Miami University and have compiled some of my activities and interests into an online portfolio so you can get to know me better. This website highlights my journey so far, where I've been and more importantly,
where I plan to go!

What one word defines you most?

Choosing one word was challenging, but if I have to pick just one, I would choose passionate. In all aspects of my life, I have always applied myself with great enthusiasm and ambition. If I get involved with something, I am not a half-hearted group member, I look to make a difference, lead, and leave an impact.

Is there a piece of writing which inspired you?

Yes! In 10th grade I had the opportunity to take an interdisciplinary English-History class called The American Experience. We read the short story, "A&P" by John Updike, and in a few short pages I realized the immediate power of a story to resonate across time periods and that even the shortest story has the immediate power to set a stage and stick with you. Even though the story is set in 1961, the characterizations were immediately relevant to people in my life. Even though I had been told this before it showed me that even though the technology changes, people are the same from decade to decade. I often think of those characterizations when I encounter new people and situations, imagining how people would fit into that scenario today and have actual found those short characterizations to be helpful in explaining people's actions and reactions in today's world.  For such a short story it had incredible motivation to me to work on my writing skills and showed me just how much impact even a short story can have!

What would your "ideal" college experience be like?

While I have never believed people who say that high school is the best four years of your life (what? already! no way, I'm just getting started!) I do listen to those who instead say "but college might be!" I am looking forward to the chance to define myself, but not only as an individual, but how I fit into the world and community at large, how to give back and make the world a better place -- not necessarily on a  "beauty pageant" scale, but in the area I have the opportunity to impact. While I have some idea of what I am good at and interested in, I look forward to four years growing as person, and am open to the idea of how I will change and discover new things about myself and the world.

Work Experience

    Homage | Orange
November 2019- Present

My current place of employment is Homage, located within the Pinecrest outdoor shopping center in the city of Orange. Throughout my time at Homage, I have been pushed to become a better team-player, as well as obtain skills in clothing retail work. Working at Homage has taught me a lot about collaborative side-by-side work with my managers, as well as how to teach and train new employees. Homage calls their employees "All Star's" and I am thrilled to say that I am proud to be apart of the Homage All-Star Team.

Summer Nanny | Cleveland Area

2012 - 2020

Since I was fourteen years old I have nannied for numerous families in the Cleveland area. For some families, I have watched their children for 8+ years, and others are a new addition.

Internship
Hathaway Brown | Shaker Heights

  June- August 2018

Summer 2018 I had an internship at Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights Ohio. I was a full day kindergarten teacher for their summer enrichment camp. I got to work closely with other full-time kindergarten teachers, was mentored by Siva Grossman, and learned how to handle a classroom full of 26 children. I learned about classroom management, how to work with fellow colleagues in a school environment, and I got to know the children on a student-teacher basis.
